Wednesday January 19th 2011

I have spoken to a few longtime friends over the past few days and it just feels so wonderful to know that all mothers are going through struggles just like I am...that they are all doing their best and that by golly sometimes those lovable darlings can stretch your soul like no one else can!
One of my darlings who shall remain nameless (so you will all still love him/her) has stretched me so much lately that I am quite certain that I have entered a new domain of defiance!  I said "if you stand up from the repent bench then you will get an even bigger consequence" to which the child   looked me in the eye...and stood up!  I didn't think he'd stand up!  Why did he do that?!! Don't they know I don't want to get mad?  I don't like being the fun wrecker!  I used to be cool!!  I sent the child up to their room and we solved the problem in a very good way...it could've gotten ugly!
So, here are five things that I was thinking when we were in the thick of it:
  1. who talks to their mother that way? are you kidding me?
  2. back in the olden days they'd sent this child out for a switch...
  3. what do I do now?
  4. where's the wooden spoon?
  5. what would Pa Ingalls do....
On another note, this is a photo of our dining/foosball room...yes, this game is that important that we slid the table off to the side so we could have room for this beloved daily event.  I must humbly admit that I have gotten quite good...I can almost beat Kimball now.

  1. Okay Somer, 1st ... I LOVE the background paper on your blog!!!!! Next, this must be the week for children testing us. I also had a day where I thought that I was getting an ulcer from the stress that I was feeling from one of my lovely children. SOunds like you might have handled your situtation a bit better than me. You inspire me with your patience you have with your children, miss having you close. Michaela xo
